One Key Is Enough

We only need your single working key on hand to cut a spare.

Never Down To Your Last Key

A precision-cut spare, made from your one working key, is one of the cheapest ways to protect yourself against a lockout.

Many drivers underestimate how useful a spare key is until they are standing outside a locked car with no way in. Having a second set on hand is one of the simplest and most affordable ways to avoid the cost and stress of a lockout or a lost key, and it takes very little time to arrange.

At Auto Key Services, our locksmiths use quality key blanks and computerised cutting equipment to produce a clean, precision-cut duplicate, whether your vehicle uses a plain metal key or a chip key that needs programming to match your car’s immobiliser system, cut and checked before we hand it back to you.

How we handle it

01

Wear and Tear

Every time a key turns in the ignition, its blade rubs against the tumblers inside the lock. Over months and years this wears the metal down, and a worn key can start to sit loosely, making the car harder to start or unlock. A worn or broken key is one of the most common causes of a lockout.

Cutting a duplicate from a key while it still works well gives you a fresh, accurately cut spare to fall back on, rather than waiting until the original fails completely. Alternating between two keys also spreads the wear, so neither one deteriorates as quickly.

02

Multiple Drivers

When more than one person drives the same vehicle, passing a single set of keys back and forth is inconvenient and increases the chance that a key gets left somewhere, misplaced or lost entirely. Cutting a duplicate for each regular driver means everyone can come and go independently, and if one set is lost, another is still on hand.

This is especially useful for households and small businesses running one or two vehicles between several drivers, where a single missing key can otherwise bring the whole day to a halt, delaying school runs, deliveries or a simple trip into town.

03

Avoiding Lockouts

Keeping a spare key in an accessible, secure place, at home, at work or with someone you trust, means a lost key or one locked inside the car becomes a minor inconvenience rather than a costly emergency callout. It is one of the cheapest forms of insurance you can arrange for your vehicle.

If you do not yet have a spare, we can cut one from your existing key in a single visit, whether it is a plain metal key, a transponder key for a car, or a key for a motorcycle used for daily boda boda work.

How many keys do you need to make a duplicate?

Just one working key. Our equipment reads the existing key and cuts, or where needed programmes, an accurate spare from it, without needing a second key for reference or comparison.

Yes. We can cut the blade and programme the chip so the new key operates your vehicle’s immobiliser system correctly, matching the original key’s programming exactly, so both keys work identically.

Yes, including keys for many of the motorcycle brands commonly used for boda boda work in and around Kampala, whether it is a daily commuter bike or a larger touring machine.
