No Starter Conditions
Car batteries can get weak. Maybe you left the lights on while your car was off, or maybe there is not a preventative reasoning behind it. You can confirm this is the case by pressing the hazard light. If the car does not turn on the hazard externally, there is a good chance your battery is out of juice. You can try boosting your car battery. If that does not solve it, you might need to replace your battery.
Another issue can be a clogged fuel filter. This is caused by a buildup of matter as your filter cleans the fuel before sending it off to your engine. This buildup blocks your engine from receiving enough fuel to start the car. This might be the case if your engine starts to turn but does not turn over completely. Your fix is replacing the fuel filter.
Spark plugs and ignition coils are the real ”starters” of your engine. They ignite the fuel and allow for your car to start. Deterioration, by time or other, can cause malfunction in starting your engine. You can confirm this if when turning your key in the ignition, you only hear a clicking noise and not your engine starting. Replacing either your spark plugs, your ignition coils, or even both, is your solution.
A starter is responsible for turning your engine over to start the car. If it is malfunctioning, you might hear a loud click noise whenever you try to turn the key to the crank position, or you might hear nothing at all. Mechanics usually test the starter by applying voltage and ground directly to it to test if the start engages directly. If the starter does not engage, that means you have a bad starter and the mechanic can replace that for you. If it does engage, that means you have a wiring or module issue. In that case, we can diagnose and repair wiring or module-related problems for this.
We highly suggest checking all fuses under the engine hood and inside the vehicle as you may have a bad fuse that is not allowing the vehicle to start.
Engine control module, smart fuse box module, immobilizer module, transmission control module, and immobilizer antenna are some of the modules that play a role in allowing the vehicle to start. If any of these modules do not function properly, you will have a no-start condition. We have a team of experts know how all these modules interact with each other and can help you diagnose module-related problems sooner. And this is where our team can help you diagnose the problem for an affordable price.
Today’s vehicles are equipped with an immobilizer system to protect the vehicle from theft. This system requires a valid working chip key to allow the immobilizer system to authorize all the modules related to starting the car to work. Otherwise, if you have a bad or unprogrammed key, the vehicle might crank or might not. You might think you have a starter, a fuel pump, or gas issue when really, it’s an immobilizer issue. Most vehicles (except Kia and Hyundai) will show an immobilizer light on the dash which will indicate that there’s a problem in the key system. With Kia and Hyundai, it is the opposite. When you turn the ignition on, there is a yellow car and a key that light up solid. This means that the vehicle accepted the key and the car will start. If when you start your Kia or Hyundai car, that light does not come on, that means there is a problem in the immobilizer/key system. And this is where our team can help you diagnose the problem for an affordable price.
If you or a mechanic think you have an immobilizer/key issue, electrical wiring issue or control module issue, we can help!
